Is your car a Japanese import?
Are you sick listening to the same two FM radio stations over and over again?
If the answer is yes it sounds like you need a band expander.
Japanese radios have a frequency range of 76MHz to 89MHz and
New Zealand radio stations are transmitted between 88MHz and 108MHz.
Installing one of these in line with the radio aerial on your car will allow your ex-Japan radio to tune in to all FM radio stations in your area.
The band expander shifts all the radio frequencies down by a predetermined amount of MHz.
In Christchurch we use 10 step (or 10MHz) band expanders which means that a station which would normally be discoverable on 96.10FM, will be able to be heard by tuning your radio to 86.10FM.
It works for stations in the 100's range as well. For instance, a station that would normally be found at 105.70FM will now be able to be heard at 85.70FM.
So basically just tune your radio to eighty(finish the sentence).
We have band expanders for a wide range of different vehicles with different aerial connections.
The connection in the picture above is the universal standard, but we also stock:
European Type 1
European Type 2
Honda/Mitsubishi 2005 on.
Nissan 2007 on.
Subaru 2005 on.
Standard connection 24V.
We install band expanders into most cars for around $120.
Price does vary of course so for an accurate quote, give us a quick ring on 03 365 2360
You will need to know the make, model and year of your car.
